Unit Study Approach to Homeschooling

The Unit Studies Approach integrates several subjects and skill areas while focusing on a single theme or topic. This topic can then be studied for a period of time covering a wide range of subject disciplines. The topic can incorporate language arts, mathematics, science, history, art, craft and whatever area the topic can be successfully applied to.

Unit studies can be developed by the parent using the internet, library and resources already in the home or units can be bought ready-made from curriculum suppliers.

The great advantages of unit studies are that they can be tied into a child's interest and that the entire family can learn about a subject together.
